A Look at the All New Bitmain Antminer L7 Asic Miner

The Bitmain Antminer L7 is the all new Litecoin/Dogecoin miner from Bitmain.  It was initially scheduled to be released in November 2021 but was delayed until early 2022.  People had been placing pre-orders of these machines since late summer 2021 and so for many the delay was painful.  The first machines released have now been up and running for a couple of months.  Lets take a look at this new powerhouse from Bitmain.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the Bitmain Antminer L7 is exactly like the Bitmain S19.  4 120mm fans (2 intake and 2 outtake) surround the 3 hashboards.  The attached power supply uses 2 c13 power cord connections.  The sound is comparable to that of an s19.  They come with a 6 month manufacturer warranty from Bitmain.

Hashrate

Bitmain has released various L7 models with hash rates all pretty close to each other.  Initially there were some 8.80 Ghz models.  Now they are mainly producing machines labeled 9.05 Ghz and 9.30 Ghz.  However, in real world operation the “9.05Ghz” version achieves an actual hashrate of approximately 9.25Ghz and the “9.30Ghz” version achieves 9.50ghz.

Setup and Operation

Like other Asic miners setup is very straightforward and does not require much time.  You login to the machine with its IP address using either the Bitmain IP locator tool or another comparable tool such as Minerstat IP locator.  The username and password are both root.  You save your pool url and account information into the miner itself, click save, and you’re done.

The L7 requires 220 volt power and uses approximately 3400 watts depending on how hard the fans are working.  It can be setup for immersion cooling like other Bitmains.  One intersting aspect of the L7 is that they simultaneously produce both Litecoin and Dogecoin.  Roughly 2/3rds of the earnings come from Dogecoin and about 1/3 comes from Litecoin.  As of April 2022 these machines are making around $50 per day before electricity with Litecoin at $124.95 and Doge coin at .01493.

All in all a nice new addition to the Bitmain lineup.
